THE ITEM
Presenting a very chic, elegant and heavily Mid Century Modern design influenced Op(tical) Art vase.
From the (bordering excessive amount of) photographs, you can see the high quality porcelain from which the hexagonal shape of the vase is formed. At each point of the hexagon, there is an intentionally raised corner at the 'shoulder' as well as the 'waist' of the the vase, these corners serve to catch the light and create the Op Art effect.
Simple in form but rich in detail, in particular, with the ombre-layered gold effect, beginning with a dusted gold band at the top and graduating downwards and finishing with a solid gold band. A joy to display on its own or as part of an Op Art collection.
Furstenberg has been guest to many designers over the years, this particular piece was designed by Professor Ernst August Sundermann, who designed a range of hexagonal porcelain vases, differentiated by size and decor.
A BIT OF HISTORY
