THE ITEM
This charming 1950s Modernist piece is by Jasba Keramik, Germany.

The piece is from Jasba's Udine series with its characteristic colour palette of pastel yellow, chocolate brown and milk-white detail. The handled form, however, is a rare find. The glaze is a mix of a glossy yellow on the interior, the semi-matte chocolate brown on the exterior and finished with handpainted trails of glossy yellow and white.

Functionally, this is a great piece for standalone display or alternately, it can be used as a posy vase or hanging succulent planter.

A BIT OF HISTORY

1926 – (Decorative ceramics production ceased in 1975)

Jasba Keramik was founded by Jakob Schwaderlapp in Ransbach-Baumbach (Schwaderlapp would go on to form Ceremano in 1959). Jasba was named after his own name and the town where it was located 'Jakob Schwaderlapp', 'Ransbach-Baumbach'.

CONDITION

Excellent. No chips, cracks or repairs, there is natural mild wear to the glaze that is commensurate with the age of the piece. Please see photos as they form part of the condition report. The underside of the vase is impressed with the form number, '601' and 'GERMANY'. The body of the vase bears the original paper 'Jasba Keramik' label.
