THE ITEM
This striking work of mid-century design is by Steuler Keramiks of Germany.
The simple pitcher form features the arching curves all over, typical to mid-mod design and giving this piece a fantastic silhouette and creating an excellent canvas for the gorgeous decor. The base gloss glaze is a sumptuous cascading mix of Mocha, Espresso and Cinnamon brown tones. Overlaid onto the base glaze is the striking seam of the richly textured fat lava in black and white which, unusually, is interwoven with slices of bold, silky Cobalt blue.
CONDITION
Excellent. No chips, cracks, crazing or repairs. There is light use wear that is predominantly found in movement marks on the underside of the base and on the interior of the vase. There is also a single pock on the rim, which is from the crafting process and is mentioned for completeness. Please refer to photos as they form part of the condition report. The underside of the base is marked with Steuler's mark and the model number '315/25'.
