THE ITEM

This stunning work of Murano art glass is by Formia (Fornace Mian). The original design came from Maestro Francesco in 1984 and was one of eight birds in the 'Hamilton Collection Exotic Birds of the World.'

Many Murano glassworks have produced bird sculptures, however, the quality, craftsmanship, materials and detail of the Formia sculptures are hard to replicate. This particular piece is no exception with its superbly sentient expression, curious personality and elegant pose.

The main body is a soft raspberry pink that is overlaid with a layer of gold Avventurine flakes. This colour combination begins at the head of the the sculpture and carries through to the tip of its tail. The piece is complimented with clear glass casing in its crest, lightly folded wings and the branch perch. The sculpture is finished with a black glass detail for the beak and eyes.

A BIT OF HISTORY
