This polished work of mid-century Modern West German ceramic is by Marei Keramik. The stylised form is simple yet sleek and further accentuated by the central portal that creates the abstract jug shape.

Further elevating this piece is the semi-matte, sumptuous and popular Kolibri glaze in a palette with a Milk White base glaze seamlessly blend with Powdered Lilac and Pale Demerara Brown.

The elegant and eye-catching form and excellent condition of this piece make it a rare find that can be displayed as a standalone piece.

A BIT OF HISTORY
Marei Keramik [1949-2016] Originally part of the partnership between Josef Emons and Jean Fuss, in 1949 the partnership separated to form ES keramik and Jean Fuss & Sohn KG renamed Majolikafabrik Rheinbach Jean Fuss and Sohn, abbreviated to Marei.

Known for their incredible glazes, famous series by Marei include: Brügge decor (English Bruges), Kapri, and Kolibri [sometimes known as Snakeskin].

Though in production for many years, sadly the pottery eventually closed in 2016.
