THE ITEM
Presenting a charming work of Modernist influenced design.
The sleek form has a lightly angular body and a shape similar to the UFO shape, popular to Mid Century Modern design.
The decor of the grey and pinstriped band with shallow inverted drops of gold, make me think of glowing tones travelling along a musical score , like a piece of music in suspended animation.
Simple yet stylish, this piece would suit a room with Modernist, Retro, or Art Deco inspired decor.
A BIT OF HISTORY
Franz Heinrich worked as a porcelain painter. In 1896 he built a melting pot in the parental house in Selb. Heinrich would eventually go on to found Heinrich & Co. in 1903 to produce porcelain.
Under his leadership, the manufactory developed into one of the most important manufacturers in Germany.
During the heyday, almost half of the German porcelain production came from the Hutschenreuther, Rosenthal and Heinrich factories. Around 1930 his company had 500 employees, at the beginning of the 1970s over 800. Today, the company continues as part of Villeroy & Boch.
