THE ITEM
A simply formed yet elegant work of Swedish Modernist design was crafted in the Simlångsdalen locality with a population of around 590 inhabitants.
True to the roots of Modernist design, the simplicity in this bottle vase speaks to an honest expression of the natural material. The bottle form is evenly balanced and finished with a severe flat rim, giving centre stage to the rich, hot chocolate hued stoneware clay.
Presented in a contrasting gently ribbed effect, the matte stoneware surface is washed with a white gloss glaze that thins at the ridges of the ribbing to create an oatmeal-like decor. The overall effect of the gloss glaze contrasting with the rich matte stoneware supports this piece to achieve great beauty through its simplicity.
