THE ITEM
This gorgeous work of Art Deco design is from the early 2000s by Belgian pottery Emaux de Louvière.
The simple Solifleur bud vase form of this piece is beautifully offset by the female figure which is glazed in a glossy crackle glaze. The female makes this composition very Art Deco and also adds a modern twist, unique to Emaux de Louviere as the original works of enamel ceramics of the time would rarely incorporate a plainly glazed figure.
The elegantly designed form is complimented by with the enamel-glaze in the manner of Emaux de Longwy, who produced pieces in this enamelled technique between the 1920s and 1940s. The enamel decor is a palette of vibrant Azure blue upon which is the soft white and pink diffused apple blossoms, stems and leaves.
