THE ITEM
This vase is one of my other beams of sunshine on offer, with it's elegant body sitting on a rich amber base which tapers beautifully upwards to the parted fishtail rim. The amber glass cases and compliments the white Lattimo on the inside, of which can be seen on the inside of the rim.
This vase was crafted in a well-known design from Cristalleria Fratelli Betti glassworks in Empoli. Often named by collectors as Alrose Empoli; Alrose was the importer rather than a manufacturer.
A BIT OF HISTORY
Cristalleria Fratelli Betti glassworks was founded in the Italian Region of Empoli in 1954 by three brothers Daniel, Loris, and Jose Betti. The brothers went on to take over an existing and older glass works called Veteria Rioda. They continued crafting fine glass works for well to do families throughout Europe, Italy, Sicily and Greece. Sadly, age, illness and financial hardships and rebuilding after WW2 took its toll which led to the glassworks eventual closure.
