THE ITEM
Presenting a mesmerising piece of studio art glass, shaped as a Solifleur bottle vase.
The technique is similar to that of the Italian Sommerso technique, where there are multiple layers of decor captured in the outer layer of clear glass casing and the overall style is close to the works of Swedish glass artist Håkan Gunnarsson.
At the core, it is a deep bronze-orange interspersed with a 'settling snowdrift' of white and silver, There is then an overlay of pronounced swirls in a rich, inky ebony-brown; the swirls cast shadows onto the core. Both layers are encased in the clear glass casing.
This piece would suit a room with Contemporary, Modernist or even Industrialist theme inspired decor.
A BIT OF HISTORY
Unfortunately it's not been possible to track down the provenance of this piece.
CONDITION
Excellent, no chips, cracks, scratches or signs of use. There are a few movement marks to the underside base of the vase, which is commensurable with age - please see photos as part of the condition report.
