THE ITEM
The unmistakable glaze that could only be Rolf Weber, this sumptuous solifleur pitcher vase could be home to a single stem bloom or just as easily be displayed as a standalone piece.
The silky matte cedar brown glaze could at first glance be mistaken for being purely matte, but a closer look and a turning of the sides will show you that there are glimmers of clear crystalline glaze interspersed all over the piece. The same goes for the speckles of blue teal, these also disperse as a crystalline glaze would bringing further depth to the colour.
A BIT OF HISTORY
Unfortunately, it has not been possible to trace a more detailed provenance on this piece, however, it is known that Rolf Weber lived from 1907 until 1985 and his works are widely exhibited in Germany e.g. Stadtmuseum Hofgeismar Kassel, Hetjens-Museum Dusseldorf, etc.
