This unique work of hand-worked studio pottery is by Danish ceramist, Henrik Knudsen (b. 1943 - d. 2019), created for his own workshop in Nylars of Bornholm, Denmark.
The form of this piece bears the hallmarks of exquisite technique, from the beautifully balanced abstract teardrop shape to the hand-cut filigree openings. The care and attention in crafting this piece even extends to the polishing of the edges for each irregular-jigsaw shaped opening.
The glaze of this piece is a delicately streaked Hare's Fur glaze, the palette of which is composed of a range of browns. The base glaze is of a semi-matte and warm Caramel which has been interspersed with shades of Coffee and Dark Chocolate.
This subtly refined piece is excellent for standalone display or as a candleholder.
